  • ID card issued by the U.S. government or State of Rhode Island (RIPTA bus pass, etc.)

Apply for a mail ballot: Rhode Islanders can apply online with a valid RI Driver’s License or State ID and voter registration.
Receive your mail ballot packet: Includes the ballot, Voter’s Mail Ballot Certificate envelope, instructions, return envelope, and “I Voted by Mail” sticker.
Mark your mail ballot: Fill ovals next to choices, use black ink, follow instructions for write-in candidates, and request a replacement ballot for mistakes.
Complete the Voter’s Mail Ballot Certificate: Insert voted ballot, print name, provide a telephone number, and sign.
Mail or hand-deliver your ballot: Use a postage-paid return envelope, drop it in an official drop box, or hand-deliver it to the Board of Elections by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
