North Dakota Driver’s License, North Dakota Non-Driver ID (available at no cost for voting purposes),Tribal ID or Tribal Letter, Long Term Care Certificate (issued by long-term care facilities for residents).

Applicant Without ID: Attester (only for voters unable to obtain an ID due to disability)

Absentee Voting Process:

  • Request an absentee ballot application from your county auditor.
  • In vote-by-mail counties, applications are mailed to all voting-age residents.

Vote by Mail Counties:

  • Choose to either return the absentee ballot application to vote by mail or vote in person on Election Day or at an early voting location.
  • Requesting and Tracking an Absentee Ballot:
  • Request an absentee ballot application online, print it, sign it, and deliver it to the county auditor.
  • Mark and return the ballot by the day before Election Day.
  • Track your absentee ballot status online.
